EG A/S, a Saas company from Denmark which has opened an 850-seater technology centre at wrkwrk, a premium workspace provider for tech companies, in Mangaluru, has recruited 60% local talents, its Chief Executive Officer Mikkel Bardram said on Thursday.
Addressing presspersons, he said that of the remaining 40% employees of the company, 20% are from other parts of Karnataka and other 20% staff are from other places of the country.
“The local talents of Mangaluru learn quickly and are confident,” Mr. Bardram said, adding that the company made 41 acquisitions across the globe in the past six years.
“The acquisitions will continue in the coming years. That will drive more activity in Mangaluru office as well,” he said and added: “People in Mangaluru are extremely willing and able to speak up.”
“I see few cultural barriers. Our values are very much aligned,” the CEO said.
The company delivers more than 150 plug-and-play software solutions across a wide range of industries, with a strong emphasis on innovation and security.

Referring to infrastructure for growth of tech companies in Mangaluru and Udupi, Rohit Bhat, founder, wrkwrk, Robosoft Technologies, and 99Games, said, “If we build world-class facilities, premium world-class companies will come.”
Mr. Bhat said that four private players in Mangaluru has now taken initiative to build IT parks.
Responding to the State government’s move to open a technology park in Mangaluru to meet the working capacity requirements of 3,500 people, Mr. Bhat said that if government creates one IT seat, private players will create 10 seats in the next three years in Mangaluru.
Anand Fernandes, CEO, EG India said that EG’s global leadership has trusted Mangaluru to host the company’s largest Global Capability Centre (GCC) outside Europe, in Mangaluru.
He said that if quality workspace, like the one created by wrkwrk, is available in Mangaluru and other parts of Karnataka tech companies will not go outside Karnataka. They will flourish in the State. Mr. Fernandes said that wrkwrk Triangle at Kottara Chowki is one of the best work space available in the country.
