Delhi has recorded two dengue deaths, the first this year, according to a Municipal Corporation of Delhi health report. “A committee has confirmed that both these deaths occurred due to dengue,” said a senior official, adding that there were 13 other deaths that the committee was currently reviewing. Delhi had recorded 11 dengue deaths last year, 19 in 2023, nine in 2022, and 23 in 2021. The weekly data show that dengue cases in the city have reached 1,136, with the highest 125 from the Central zone, followed by 103 in Najafgarh. There are 623 malaria cases, and 133 are of chikungunya. Malaria cases, which had reached a five-year high, have decreased over the past two weeks compared to the same period earlier in 2024.
