Dalit organisations in Karnataka staged protests on Thursday in front of the residences of ministers Mahadevappa and Sathish Jarkiholi, demanding that a Dalit leader be elevated as the next Chief Minister if the Congress high command chooses to replace Siddaramaiah. When asked about the protestors’ demands, PWD Minister Sathish Jarkiholi confirmed that they had submitted a memorandum. “We will look into it,” he said. On whether ministers would push the high command to consider a Dalit for the top post, Jarkiholi remarked, “The situation hasn’t arisen yet. When it does, we will raise our voice.”He also clarified that discussions related to leadership or Cabinet changes would take place only after the ongoing elections.“We’ll be here till November 20. All that will be after the 14th. Let the elections get over first; everything will happen after that,” he said, responding to queries about a possible Cabinet reshuffle and his travel plans to Delhi..preferred-source-banner{ margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom:10px;}The demand for a Dalit Chief Minister comes amid continued speculation over leadership stability in the state, with party insiders and community groups increasingly vocal about representation in top positions.- EndsPublished By: Deepthi Published On: Nov 6, 2025Tune InMust Watch
