Deliver Me From Nowhere Soundtrack Guide: Every Song & When They Play

Bruce Springsteen's biopic about the making of the Nebraska album is filled with music, not only from The Boss, but from other artists as well. The result is Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere having a rocking soundtrack that also spends ample time on many of the individual songs from the 1982 album. The movie stars Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen in 1981 after wrapping up a tour following The River album. With his fame on the rise and pressure to create new hits, the American singer/songwriter finds himself working on a deeply personal set of songs that are not what was expected from him. While so much of Deliver Me From Nowhere dedicated to the creation of the Nebraska album, there are many other songs from Springsteen's career included in the story, with Allen White really singing and playing guitar for them. There are even several tunes that come from other musicians and bands. All in all, there are over two dozen songs on Deliver Me From Nowhere's soundtrack to hear. Every Bruce Springsteen Song In Deliver Me From Nowhere "Born To Run" performed by Jeremy Allen White: One of Springsteen's most famous songs that turned him into a rock star is used to kick off the main portion of Deliver Me From Nowhere. Jeremy Allen White performs "Born To Run" as part of a 1981 Cincinnati concert, which marked the end of the artist's tour. "Hungry Heart" performed by Bruce Springsteen: The sixth song from The River album plays momentarily in the movie as it begins on a radio station while Bruce is driving his new car. The film uses the original Springsteen recording for this song rather than having White record his own version. "Nebraska" performed by Jeremy Allen White: The first and title track for the movie's focal point album is heard throughout the movie. "Nebraska" is first heard as Springsteen is writing different portions of it at home. There's another opportunity to hear it during a recording session, which is intercut with flashbacks of Bruce watching a movie with his dad. It's heard once more after a studio re-recording that he doesn't like. "Mansion On A Hill" performed by Jeremy Allen White: The third song on Nebraska is heard in Deliver Me From Nowhere when Bruce is shown writing it. The movie also cuts in footage of Bruce running with his sister in a field by a mansion on a hill, with their dad watching. "Atlantic City" performed by Jeremy Allen White: Nebraska's second song is the next tune that the movie shows Springsteen developing. It plays originally as he's shown spending time with Faye Romano (Odessa Young) and her daughter. We hear it again when Jon Landau (Jeremy Stong) listens to the demo tape in his office. It plays once more to hear a bad recording session of it. "State Trooper" performed by Jeremy Allen White: The sixth song on Nebraska is heard after Bruce and Mike Batlan (Paul Walter Hauser) finish recording songs at home. It plays through the in-house recording set up as Bruce and Mike listen. "Reason To Believe" performed by Jeremy Allen White: Once they listen to "State Trooper," the duo is then shown listening to a portion of the tenth song on Nebraska. They are both incredibly happy with the final result of what they've produced and move from there to finish the album. "Born In The U.S.A." performed by Jeremy Allen White: A signature song for the artist that debuted on the 1984 album of the same name, its first heard in the movie as Jon listens to the demo and reads the letter, which Springsteen says in writing he imagines as being more rock and roll in the final recording. That iconic version of "Born In The U.S.A." then joins the Deliver Me From Nowhere soundtrack as White performs it in the recording studio with a full band. "Used Cars" performed by Bruce Springsteen: Another one of The Boss' songs that the movie uses his recording of is "Used Cars." This is because it only plays briefly at Bruce's home through a cassette. "Highway Patrolman" performed by Jeremy Allen White: The fifth song on the Nebraska album is heard for the first time while Jon listens to the demo in his office too. Viewers get another chance to hear it while Faye and her daughter wait for Bruce to show up at the carousel. "I'm On Fire" performed by Jeremy Allen White: Although it missed a spot on Nebraska, the sixth song on Born in the U.S.A. still is heard in Deliver Me From Nowhere. It plays as Faye is shown at work and attending the Stone Pony hoping to find Bruce, as well as footage of old recording technology being used to capture the sound for "Nebraska" Bruce desperately wants. "My Father's House" performed by Jeremy Allen White: The ninth song on Nebraska is one of the last heard in Deliver Me From Nowhere's soundtrack, as Bruce makes this the last song for him to record. We see him recording it by himself before the movie transitions to Jon listening to it with Al Teller (David Krumholtz). "Atlantic City (Live at Madison Square Garden, New York, NY)" performed by Bruce Springsteen: The credits for Deliver Me From Nowhere bring the real Bruce back once more with a live recording of "Atlantic City" from his performance at Madison Square Garden in New York. When Every Non-Bruce Springsteen Song Plays In Deliver Me From Nowhere "Wheel of Fortune" by The Cardinals: Surprisingly, the first song in Deliver Me From Nowhere isn't a Bruce Springsteen song. Its actually "Wheel of Fortune" by The Cardinals, which plays in the background of the opening scene as a young Bruce gets his dad from the bar. "Drift Away" by Dobie Gray: Viewers also hear a small sample of Dobie Gray's recognizable "Drift Away" tune as Bruce goes to the new house he's living in back in New Jersey. "Urgent" by Foreigner: This song is heard as Bruce buys a new car and drives off the lot. It stops playing when he changes the radio station, leading to "Hungry Heart" playing. "Lucille" by Little Richard (performed by Jay Buchanan, Jake Kiszka, Sam F. Kiszka, Aksel Coe, Bobby Emmett, and Jeremy Allen White): Bruce joins a performance of a local band at The Stone Pony to do a cover of Little Richard's "Lucille" one night after he can't sleep. "Musica Poetica II: Bläserstücke: Pastourelles - Passion" by Tölzer Knabenchor and Kölner Kinderchor: A snippet of this song is heard briefly while Bruce watches a house burning in a movie. "Winning" by Santana: When Bruce and Faye go out for their first date, "Winning" plays as they drive in the car. "Mellisa" by The Allman Brothers Band: This song plays in the background as Bruce visits his friend Matt Delia (Harrison Gilbertson) one night at his car shop. "Boom Boom" by The Animals (performed by Jay Buchanan, Jake Kiszka, Sam F. Kiszka, Aksel Coe, Bobby Emmett, and Jeremy Allen White): This cover is heard when Bruce goes to the Stone Pony again to perform, not realizing that Faye was in the audience. "Frankie Teadrop" by Suicide: This song is heard after Bruce takes Faye home and continues to push her away, leading to him listening to it alone at home as he lies on the floor. "Last Mile of the Way" by Sam Cooke and The Soul Stirrers: Sam Cooke gets to be part of Deliver Me From Nowhere's soundtrack thanks to Jon bringing Bruce a cassette tape with this song on it, as the two friends listen to it in Bruce's house before he moves to California. The credits for Deliver Me From Nowhere note that "Let Your Love Flow" by The Bellamy Brothers and "Hello Darlin'" by Conway Twitty are in the movie, but we could not place them. Where To Listen To Deliver Me From Nowhere's Soundtrack For anyone wanting to listen to Deliver Me From Nowhere's soundtrack, the songs are readily available in various forms. The original Bruce Springsteen recordings can easily be found on Spotify and Apple Music, as well as other music platforms. 20th Century Studios has so far released five of Jeremy Allen White's re-recordings as part of the album Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack).
