Delight as law firm achieves Gold Investors in People accreditation in milestone 150th year

The achievement places the firm, based at the Waterfront in Brierley Hill, among only a quarter of organisations worldwide to attain the distinction – underscoring its commitment to its people-centric ethos.
The Gold accreditation highlights Higgs’ long-standing dedication to ‘creating an environment where people can thrive’.
Bosses say the business – from its foundation 150 years ago to its position today as a leading regional law firm – is defined by the talent, values and pride of its people.
The assessment revealed remarkable progress since 2022, with Higgs improving in eight of nine indicators and surpassing the legal activities sector average across all categories.
The firm was particularly recognised as “high performing” in managing performance, building capability, and creating sustainable success.
Internal survey results further demonstrate the strength of Higgs’ culture.
The results show 97 per cent of colleagues understand the firm’s vision and objectives, 93 per cent trust the leadership team, and 94 per cent describe Higgs as a great place to work. Additionally, 96 per cent believe leaders champion diversity, 91 per cent agree the firm positively impacts society, and 95 per cent feel trusted to make decisions in their roles.
Sophie Wardell, people director at Higgs LLP, described the Investors in People achievement as a proud moment in the firm’s history and said: “To achieve Gold in our 150th year is something very special.
“We are passionate about creating an environment where our people can thrive, and this recognition is a testament to the culture we have built together, one rooted in our values, and one that will carry us confidently into the future.”
Managing partner Nick Taylor echoed the sentiment and said: “Our people display a real sense of pride working at Higgs, and that is the driver of our continued success. As we mark 150 years of legacy excellence, we remain steadfast in our commitment to our people and our values.”
