The Delhi Metro will soon provide a direct connection between Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 of IGI Airport, making the air travel experience even easier for passengers. Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) is the country’s busiest airport, and now there’s great news for passengers. The Delhi Metro’s Golden Line will soon directly connect Terminal 1 (T1) to Terminal 3 (T3). Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said that the Golden Line was originally planned only to Aerocity, but will now be extended to T1. This will make travel between T1 and T3 easier and faster for passengers. Currently, the Airport Metro Express Line (Orange Line) connects T3 and the Magenta Line connects T1, but there is no direct metro connection between the two terminals. T2 and T3 are adjacent, but T1 is a few kilometers away, forcing passengers to resort to taxis or shuttles. This extension of the Golden Line will eliminate this problem. Jaipuriar said that an integrated station will be built in Aerocity, where the Golden Line, Airport Line, and Regional Railway Transport Service (RRTS) will be available simultaneously. This multi-modal connectivity will prove to be a game-changer for travelers. Golden Line The Golden Line, part of Phase IV of the Delhi Metro, is being built from Tughlakabad to Aerocity. In addition, DIAL is also planning to introduce an Air Train or Automated People Mover (APM) system, which will connect T1, T2, and T3. This system will operate at elevated and ground levels, making travel between terminals even more convenient. Delhi Airport Capacity Indira Gandhi International Airport handles over 100 million passengers annually. This new Golden Line station and multi-modal connectivity will relieve travelers of traffic worries. Whether you’re catching a domestic or international flight, the journey between terminals will now be completed in minutes. This initiative by Delhi Metro and DIAL will not only enhance passenger convenience but also further strengthen Delhi’s position as a world-class transport hub.
