Delhi HC quashes cross FIRs between neighbours, directs them to serve pizza, buttermilk at juvenile home

Bringing an unusual yet harmonious end to a neighbourhood spat, the Delhi High Court has quashed two cross FIRs over complaints by two residents of Mansarovar Park, on the condition that both parties offer pizzas and buttermilk to inmates of a local juvenile home.

The case stemmed from a quarrel on May 5, 2025, between two neighbours over the handling of their pets. What began as a heated exchange soon escalated into a scuffle, with each side accusing the other of assault and intimidation. As a result, two FIRs were registered at the Mansarovar Park police station.

During the hearing, counsel for both petitioners told the court the dispute was a misunderstanding and both parties had settled amicably.

Noting the dispute was private and continuing proceedings would “rekindle hostility” instead of serving justice, Justice Arun Monga quashed both FIRs and ordered community service.

The complainants were ordered to jointly provide vegetable pizzas and buttermilk to the residents, staff, and attendants of Sanskar Ashram, located near GTB Hospital, Dilshad Garden.

Notably, one complainant owns a pizza business. Justice Monga said this resolution would “promote cordiality and bonhomie between neighbours”.
