The Delhi government has announced plans to appoint over 5000 new Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) in all government and municipal schools in Delhi. These TGT teachers will be appointed to teach classes 6 to 10. This announcement was announced by the Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Rekha Gupta. "5,346 new Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) will be appointed for classes 6 to 10 in all government and municipal schools in Delhi," Rekha Gupta said in an official 'X' (earlier known as Twitter) post. "This is an initiative to create an education system where students will get quality education, personal guidance and the opportunity to fully develop their potential." Quoting experts, a news agency stated that around 10,000 teaching posts are currently vacant across Delhi government schools, which is negatively affecting the student-teacher ratio. According to a circular issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE) on October 3, applications for the vacant posts opened on October 9 and will close on November 7. The news report also stated that official data from the DoE shows that Delhi government schools currently have over 70,000 teachers catering to more than 18 lakh students
