Around 200 people reportedly suffered food poisoning after consuming buckwheat flour (Kuttu atta) during Navratri fasting in several Delhi localities on Tuesday, police said.According to officials, residents from areas including Jahangirpuri, Mahendra Park, Samaypur, Bhalswa Dairy, Lal Bagh and Swaroop Nagar complained of nausea and stomach discomfort. Fortunately, no serious case has been reported and all patients are stable.Police said they first began receiving distress calls around 6.10 am at the Jahangirpuri police station, with reports of multiple people suddenly falling sick after eating food prepared with Kuttu atta. “Teams were rushed to BJRM Hospital, where the chief medical officer informed that around 150 to 200 people had reported to the emergency ward since morning,” a senior officer said, as quoted by PTI.Anxiety During Navratri FastingThe suspected mass food poisoning created panic in the locality, particularly as large numbers of people were observing Navratri fasts. Officials said police immediately launched awareness drives, using beat staff and public address systems to alert residents and shopkeepers.Live EventsQuality Checks UnderwayThe matter has been reported to the Food Department, which is expected to conduct quality checks on buckwheat flour being sold in the area. “We are coordinating with the Food Department and local health officials.
