Delhi Airport T2 Opening: In an exciting news for Delhi Airport passengers, the Terminal 2 is all set to reopen. Authorities will begin operation at the newly upgraded Terminal 2 from 26 October 2025. The reopening will align with the start of the winter flight schedule and is aimed at improving operations and making travel more comfortable for passengers. Terminal 2, which is about 40 years old, was closed in April this year for renovations. Only Terminals 1 and 3 have been in use since then. Several media reports have suggested that these changes have been made at the new terminal to increase the efficiency of its operations. 120 Domestic Flights Per Day: The Terminal 2 is prepared to host as many as 120 domestic flights every day. These flights will be shifted from other terminals to reduce congestion and improve efficiency. Self-Baggage Drop: This facility will help reduce waiting time by allowing passengers to check in their luggage themselves, reducing waiting times and queues. First in India: Terminal 2 will have six new passenger boarding bridges that use autonomous docking technology—a first in India. These bridges connect planes to the terminal and will help speed up and improve safety during boarding. Improved Safety and Comfort: Mechanical and electrical systems have been upgraded. This includes better air conditioning (HVAC), fire safety, lighting, and power systems. A clearer Flight Information Display System (FIDS) has also been installed. Accessibility: There are new features to help travellers with reduced mobility, including improved signage and better road access to the terminal. What They Said Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO of Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), said: “Terminal 2 is not just a facility upgrade — it’s a reimagination of the passenger journey. We’re preparing IGI Airport for the future of aviation,” said the media report. The upgrade aims to support India’s rapidly growing air travel needwhile offering passengers a smoother and more high-tech experience.
