Deion Sanders Leaving Colorado Chatter is Already Starting

Deion Sanders is currently in the middle of his third season as head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, and needless to say, things are not exactly going well. Colorado is just 3-5 on the year and was just lost 53-7 to Utah last Saturday. Sanders is on his way to posting his second losing campaign in three years at Boulder, and now, some are wondering if he will even be back in 2026. "Why? Why would he be?" Anderson said. "The one thing we know about Deion is that he coached his sons every step of the way. ... They're gone now. He's not doing well health wise. He already told you he doesn't want to recruit. That to me shows he doesn't kind of enjoy a lot of parts of this thing." Anderson added he feels that Sanders would have been far better off getting a head-coaching job at another Big 12 school: TCU. "I think if Deion would have gotten the TCU job, I feel like this would all look a lot different," Anderson added. "He doesn't have any connections to Colorado. It's hard to get people to go over there. ... Because we all know he has no connection to Colorado, there's no reason for him to be there anymore." Back in March, Sanders inked a five-year extension with the Buffaloes that will him through 2029, but Sanders' health issues coupled with the team's struggles could change his long-term future at Boulder. Sanders has gone just 16-17 at Colorado, going 4-8 during his debut campaign in 2023 and following that up by going 9-4 in 2024. The Buffaloes made the Alamo Bowl last season, but were routed by BYU. Of course, Sanders knew he would be losing those players when he signed his extension with the Buffaloes, but it's entirely possible that he may change his mind on a whole lot of things before 2026.
