Dehradun: Schools and Anganwadi Centers Closed Today Due to Heavy Downpour

Amid persistent rainfall in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, the district administration has announced the closure of schools and Anganwadi centers today, September 18, 2025. The Chief of Education and District Program has directed the educational institutions to comply with the order. Apart from students, teachers and other staff members have also been instructed to stay at home.The Dehradun Meteorological Center has sounded a national disaster alert and heavy downpour for today. The majority of areas are at risk of landslides and flash floods due to moderate to heavy rainfall. Thus, keeping students’ and staff safety in mind, the authorities declared a holiday for all educational institutions (including government, non-government, and private schools) and anganwadi centers. The meteorological department has issued a ‘Red’ alert for Dehradun for heavy to very heavy rainfall and lightning with thunder and intense to extremely intense spells of rain. Dehradun received 11.3 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours as of 8:30 hrs on 17.09.2025. District-Wise Rainfall Summary of Uttarakhand Will Educational Institutes Remain Closed Tomorrow?
