Death Toll Surges Past 65,000 as Israeli Assault Pushes Strip to the Brink of Famine

Gaza, September 27 (QNA) – The death toll from Israel’s relentless assault on the Gaza Strip has soared to 65,926 martyrs and 167,783 wounded since October 7, 2023, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.

In a statement issued Saturday, the ministry reported that hospitals in the Strip received 77 martyrs and 265 injured individuals in the past 24 hours alone. Since Israel violated the ceasefire agreement on March 18, the cumulative toll has reached 13,060 martyrs and 55,742 wounded.

The ministry also highlighted the rising number of casualties among aid workers and civilians seeking basic sustenance. In the last 24 hours, 17 individuals were killed and 89 injured while attempting to secure food, bringing the total number of “breadline martyrs” to 2,560 and injuries to 18,703.

The overall casualty figures remain provisional, as thousands of victims are still trapped under rubble. Rescue and civil defense teams are unable to reach them due to severe equipment shortages and direct targeting by Israeli forces, which continue to obstruct relief operations amid a catastrophic humanitarian crisis that has plunged Gaza into famine-like conditions.
