Ben Miller, a fan favourite from Death in Paradise, has opened up about his return to ITV's Professor T and his new role in an Australian series called Austin. Ben, who played the beloved detective Richard Poole in Death in Paradise until his character's shocking death, began filming for Professor T shortly after, where he plays Jasper Tempest. In a recent interview on Good Morning Britain, Ben discussed his much-anticipated return to the series. When Richard Madeley asked if Ben "gets any sleep" due to his busy schedule, the actor humorously responded, "Rob Brydon and I divide the roles between us; we manage it that way. I am on today, and Rob's at home." Before delving into his various projects and career journey, Richard asked Ben about his involvement in the Australian show, Austin, according to the Express. Ben revealed, "Yeah, it was really fun to do. I mean, the next thing that happens in the show is Richard decides, because he's arrived in Australia, he's been cancelled because of something he retweeted on the plane. "And then he decided he was going to book his own book tour. And of course, he finds one place that will have him, and they turn up, and it's a Nazi bookshop. So then he's learned properly that he's cancelled." Kate Garraway interjected, "But there must be something in your mind that I don't know how much you love or not, social media, but when you're thinking about your comedy and your writing, is the whole cancel culture there?" Ben responded, "Well, my take would be that social media is not what we thought it was to start with. It was a great way of meeting new people and hearing really interesting points of view. "And then they decided they had to make money out of it. So then it became about getting people's attention, and the only way to get your attention is to use an algorithm, and the algorithm shows you things that make you either angry or engage you, and I think that has really changed the sort of public discourse." Ben frequently updates his social media followers about his acting projects, and earlier this year, he revealed to fans that filming for series five of Professor T had concluded. Sharing a photograph of Professor Jasper Tempest, the Death in Paradise actor, posted, "Last week we wrapped Season 5 of Professor T!". "Another few months spent filming with the hardest working crew and cast who give their all to this show. It's always a pleasure." He continued, "I'll be sharing some behind-the-scenes photos - these were taken by the talented Toon Aerts." Professor T is available to watch on the ITV Hub.
