Question: I am feeling wretched after my son announced that his girlfriend is pregnant. I have never been fond of this girl, who is brazen and sweary. In fact, I don’t think she can utter a sentence without swearing.

She dresses like a glorified roadie and has tattoos on both her arms. She works in a creative industry and I have been told that tattoos are accepted in that culture, and her colleagues are similarly ‘inked’.
