Dealz update for Irish shoppers as 30 more UK stores shut down

Poundland has announced plans to close another 10 outlets in the UK, with several branches shutting within days, as an update has been issued for their Irish stores operating under the Dealz brand in Ireland. The discount chain has already closed 30 locations in the UK and an additional 10 have begun promoting substantial sales, with certain stores offering discounts of up to 40 per cent. Polish-based retail group Pepco owns Poundland , which operates under the name Dealz in Ireland. In June they sold the struggling chain for £1 in a deal which included all outlets across Ireland and the UK. A spokesperson for Poundland confirmed that the current restructuring scheme applies only to stores in the UK and that those in Ireland remain unaffected. Poundland's latest move forms part of a major restructuring that will see 68 shop closures confirmed by the end of 2025. An extensive selection of products are featured in the clearance, spanning household items to apparel and including health and beauty ranges. While certain branches aren't scheduled for closure for several more weeks, multiple locations will be bidding farewell to shoppers within days. Poundland's restructuring and efforts at a financial turnaround will result in 68 total closures signed off by the end of 2025. A Poundland representative commented: "Customers will be able to take advantage of significant savings as these stores prepare for closure in the days ahead. "The reductions of up to 40pc will see items marked down in price until they're sold and cover all the stock in each store from homewares to groceries and clothing to health and beauty." Darren MacDonald, Poundland's UK country manager, stated: "We know how disappointing it is when we leave a store, but before we close our doors for a final time, we're determined to say goodbye by offering even more amazing value to customers. "The special reductions, on top of the value we provide in every store, will help us leave locations we're leaving with pride. "And when we close our doors, we look forward to welcoming customers to one of the hundreds of Poundland stores we'll continue to operate right across the UK."
