The deadline to file a claim in the settlement involving VNGR Beverage LLC, the former owners of prebiotic sparkling soda Poppi, is approaching.
Customers have until Sept. 26 to submit a claim form on the case’s website.
The settlement stems from a 2024 lawsuit in which consumers claimed Poppi drinks didn’t improve gut health as much as advertised.
The complaint stated that with 2 grams of prebiotic fiber, a consumer needs to drink more than four Poppi sodas in a day to see any health benefits.
Although the company is not admitting to any wrongdoing, it agreed to an $8.9 million settlement, according to court documents.
The settlement involves all Poppi drinks purchased from Jan. 23, 2020 to July 18, 2025.
Customers who provide proof of purchase can expect 75 cents for each single can purchased, $3 for four-packs, $6 for eight-packs and $9 per 12 or 15 packs.
For those without proof of purchase, the maximum claim amount per household is $16.
A court hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Nov. 20 and payment will begin afterwards, though a specific timeline has not been announced.
