Advertisement - ABBOTTABAD, Nov 04 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Salim Akram, accompanied by Tehsil Chairman Sardar Shuja Nabi, launched an extensive inspection drive across various city areas, taking strict action against environmental violations and negligence by civic departments. The DC, along with officials from the Small Industries Department, TMA, Environment Protection Agency, and members of the Tehsil Council, visited Mangal Katha, Gohar Ayub Town, Basti Lal Khan, Kala Pul, and Neela Peer. During the visit, he ordered the sealing of industrial units in Mangal Katha found dumping solid waste in open areas. The TMA was instructed to issue immediate notices to residents discharging sewage directly into Mangal Katha and to those who had constructed houses on nearby slopes. Emphasizing the need for urgent environmental protection, the DC directed all relevant departments to take effective measures against rising pollution, solid waste hazards, and sewage contamination. At Gohar Ayub Town Street No. 1, Sarmad Salim Akram took notice of illegal dumping and directed the Assistant Commissioner to initiate action against the responsible industrial units. In Basti Lal Khan, he also identified marble waste and slurry accumulation, ordering notices to owners obstructing water flow. Inspecting Usmanabad Bridge, the DC ordered an immediate halt to nearby construction and removal of encroachments. Similar directives were issued at Kala Pul, where he ordered the clearing of garbage heaps and permanent structures blocking drainage. During visits to Neela Peer, Al-Meera, and Shah Kot, the Deputy Commissioner inspected public health tube wells near Mangal Katha, instructing officials to test water quality and ensure the supply of clean drinking water to residents.
