Davis tells PLPs: We need this seat

The Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) has kicked off its campaign to reclaim the Golden Isles seat in the upcoming by-election. Vaughn Miller, the Golden Isles MP, died suddenly last month and his funeral was held at Bahamas Faith Ministries on Friday. On Saturday, Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis joined PLP supporters and members at the party’s Golden Isles Constituency Office for a brief charge before a community walkabout. He told them that the party must win Golden Isles. He was joined by Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper and Senator Darron Pickstock, the party’s candidate for Golden Isles. “This election is a test of whether we still believe in progress, whether we believe in steady hands, sound judgment, and a government that fights for working families,” Davis told the crowd. “The truth is, we need this seat to continue building a fairer, stronger Bahamas. We need it to protect the progress we have made and to ensure that the next chapter of our country’s story is one of growth, opportunity, and dignity for all. “Darron Pickstock embodies those values. He is a man shaped by work, by responsibility, and by service. He knows what it means to build from the ground up. He has stood with small business owners, with farmers, with young people looking for opportunity. He brings discipline, compassion, and a sense of duty, qualities that define the very best of public life. “So, as you go out today, remember this: every conversation you have is a moment of truth. Every door you knock on is a chance to strengthen the bond between the people and the progress we have built together. Remind voters that while others talk about change, it is the PLP that has delivered it.” Davis said the alternative is a part that “stops, review and cancels” projects. “We cannot go back there,” Davis said. “Not now, not after how far we have come. “So let us move with unity and determination. Let us go out with confidence and humility. Let us remind the people of Golden Isles that their vote is not just for a candidate, but for a vision of a country moving forward together.” Cooper told the crowd, “We’re going to keep Golden Isles golden.” He said, “Now, this ain’t just about winning a seat. This is about continuing the momentum. “This is about continuing the progress. This ain’t just about politics or power. “This is about progress. And that’s why we had to back our man, Darron Pickstock.” The by-election is set for November 24. Nomination Day is set for this Friday, October 31, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at Anatol Rogers High School.
