David Ortiz Says He Cursed Blue Jays Star After Declining His Gift

On the Fox broadcast for the World Series, Hall of Famer David Ortiz revealed that he cursed Toronto Blue Jays sluggre Addison Barger. Ortiz is one of the leading figures on Fox’s pregame and postgame shows throughout the season, and since Fox carries the World Series, he has been prominently featured in the coverage. Smith totaled two hits across four at-bats, hitting a home run and driving in three runs to help the Dodgers win, 5-1. When asked about it, Barger explained his reasoning. “It has Red Sox on it. I’m not wearing that. Are you kidding me?” he said. “It’s awesome, but no.” Addison Barger on why he left the shirt:"It has Red Sox on it. I'm not wearing that. Blue Jays manager John Scheinder rolled with Barger off the bench due to the pitching matchup. Southpaw Blake Snell was starting for the Dodgers in Game 1, making it a bad matchup for the lefty-hitting Barger. Barger got the start against righty Yoshinbou Yamamoto, when he went 0-for-4, as Ortiz mentioned, though he should also start against right-hander Tyler Glasnow for Game 3. Hopefully for the Blue Jays, the “MY DAWG shirt curse will have worn off Barger now that Smith made everything right with the baseball gods by accepting the shirt.
