David Beckham has staggering net worth but Arsenal cult hero banked 20x more

David Beckham boasts a huge net worth but his riches are a fraction of what his former team-mate Mathieu Flamini has earned since hanging up his boots. The pair played alongside each other during Beckham’s two loan spells at AC Milan. Ex-England captain Beckham was one of the world’s most marketable athletes during his playing days. The 50-year-old’s willingness to embrace sponsorship opportunities and other revenue streams arguably helped create the blueprint that recently saw Cristiano Ronaldo become a billionaire . Beckham earned a fortune in wages throughout his career, including the staggering sums in his LA Galaxy contract. He continues to earn money from numerous sponsorship deals, as well as through his stake in Major League Soccer franchise Inter Miami. The football icon was given the option to purchase an expansion team when signing for the Galaxy in 2007. Inter Miami entered MLS in 2020 and the club has since become globally recognised through the signing of Lionel Messi , with the team estimated to be worth more than $1billion (£760m) . The 2025 Sunday Times Rich List states that David and his wife Victoria Beckham have a combined net worth of £500m . However, this figure pales in comparison to the money former Arsenal midfielder Flamini has made since co-founding GFBiochemicals. Arsenal hero Flamini spent seven years across two spells with the Gunners, making 246 appearances. He also played for Marseille, AC Milan, Crystal Palace and Getafe before retiring in 2019. While Flamini was paid handsomely during his sporting career, it is the biochemical company he founded in 2008 that has led the three-time France international to earn unimaginable riches. GFBiochemicals is notable for its production of levulinic acid, which, as the Daily Mail reports, reduces CO2 emissions during the manufacturing of products, such as detergents, by up to 80 percent. The company creates alternatives to fossil-based products and has become a leader in environmental sustainability. The Sun reports that the success of GFBiochemicals provides its CEO and co-founder Flamini with a net worth of around £10bn. Flamini’s venture has seen him speak at Harvard Business School. He recently met King Charles III after joining the Circular Bioeconomy Alliance. On Instagram , Flamini posted: “Last week, I had the honor of joining the Circular Bioeconomy Alliance, where global leaders and Indigenous voices are shaping the future of the bioeconomy. Proud that GFBiochemicals stood alongside visionaries building a sustainable world under the guidance of His Majesty King Charles ." It is a far cry from his days with Arsenal, where he won three FA Cups and played in the 2006 Champions League final. However, Flamini has maintained some of his links to the sport, launching a supplement company alongside ex-team-mate Mesut Ozil .
