GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Davenport University is offering Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce members a 20% tuition discount under a new partnership between the two institutions. The partnership, announced Friday, Oct. 31, also provides the tuition discount to the families of Michigan Hispanic Chamber members. “At the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, we recognize and support the value of higher education,” said Mark Moreno, the chamber’s executive director. “Our members are a key asset to our organization and we’re proud to partner with Davenport University to offer this new Corporate Partner Scholarship.” The tuition discount applies to students pursuing an associate, bachelor or graduate degree as well as professional development workshops and certificate programs, according to Davenport University. Carlos Sanchez, executive director of Davenport’s Casa Latina bilingual degree program, said the partnership helps “ease the financial burden of higher education for new students and help create opportunities for career growth.” “We’re hopeful all members of the Hispanic Chamber will look into our offerings, including Casa Latina, our new bilingual degree program, and explore higher education options for themselves and their family members,” he said. The Michigan Hispanic Chamber describes itself as the “premier gateway to the state’s 25,000 Hispanic businesses and over 500,000 Latino consumers.” The chamber says it advocates for jobs and economic development by “promoting participation in supplier diversity development programs and international trade with Mexico and other Latin American countries.” Davenport has about 5,000 students at campuses across Michigan and online, including at its W.A. Lettinga campus in Caledonia Township south of Grand Rapids.
