Last week: Linn-Marr lost 28-16 to Cedar Rapids Kennedy; Central dropped a 26-2 decision to Davenport North.
Game notes: This is Central’s homecoming contest as well as the Class 5A District 6 opener for both. … This is just the fourth time these two schools have played each other since 2014, with Linn-Marr winning all three previous games. The last meeting was a 72-0 Lions victory in 2022. … The Blue Devils have been outscored 120-24, giving up 26 points in three of their four games. … Linn-Mar has been outscored 129-33, which includes one shutout loss. … Both teams have new quarterbacks this year. The Lions are rolling with sophomore Derek Rolling (32-60-3, 392 yards, 3 TDs) and Central is going with junior Toney Walker (14-56-6, 209 yards, 1 TD). Walker has rushed for 190 yards and a score, accounting for two of Central’s three touchdowns this season.
