Mamdani was elected mayor of New York City on Tuesday night after romping to victory in the polls with 50.4 percent support, defeating former Governor Andrew Cuomo at 41.6 percent and Republican Curtis Sliwa at 7.1 percent. The Democratic socialist's win marks a seismic moment in US politics, making him the Big Apple's first ever Muslim mayor. Not everyone was happy to see him come out on top, nevertheless, including Barstool founder Portnoy. After Mamdani became mayor-elect on Tuesday, he quoted a video of CNN's Scott Jennings branding him a 'great actor' on X and concluded himself: 'Scott Jennings sums up Mamdani perfectly. But if this is what the people of NYC want than so be it. Thank god I don’t live there anymore.' Portnoy has previously expressed his disdain for Mamdani and his controversial ideology, which has left him weighing up whether to move Barstool's offices out of New York City. 'But I won't because there's a lot of people in New York, and I don't want to change their lifestyle for it.' Despite admitting it would make his employees lives harder, Portnoy admitted he is still considering moving Barstool out of the Big Apple. 'I may close the New York office. Trust me, I’ve given it a lot of thought,' he added. 'Because I can’t stand the thought of Mamdani running f***ing New York City. I can’t stand it. But then a part of me’s like, how much will actually change? 'But I really have given it thought. I told our finance guy to start looking around for property. No joke. Take a principled stand. 30-something-year-old communist running New York City who’s never had a job in his life, hates America, doesn’t seem like the best.' Mamdani's victory also comes as a major blow for President Donald Trump, who previously threatened to arrest and deport him if he got the better of Cuomo. After he triumphed on Tuesday night, the mayor-elect didn't waste any time in calling out Trump. Portnoy previously threatened to move Barstool out of NYC if Mamdani prevailed on a recent episode of his company's 'The Unnamed Show' podcast Mamdani's win also comes as a blow to Donald Trump, who recently threatened to deport him 'Donald Trump, since I know you're watching, I have four words for you: Turn the volume up,' Mamdani said at his Brooklyn victory party . He then issued a direct challenge to the President, saying: 'If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him.' Mamdani, who was born in Uganda and became a naturalized American citizen after graduating from college, went on to cast himself as the embodiment of the resistance against Trump, who has pursued an aggressive, anti-immigrant agenda during his second term. 'New York will remain a city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants and, as of tonight, led by an immigrant,' he said. 'So hear me, President Trump, when I say this: To get to any of us, you will have to get through all of us.'
