Dasara: Yoga Trek, Durga Namaskara held atop Chamundi Hills

The Yoga Trek and Durga Namaskara programme, organised by the Yoga Dasara Sub-Committee as part of the Dasara festivities, was held at Chamundi Hills on Tuesday.

“Yoga, which originated in India, has gained worldwide recognition under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Practising yoga improves blood circulation and keeps both mind and body healthy,” said G.T. Deve Gowda, MLA, after inaugurating the event.

Regular practice of yoga helps maintain good health, he said, adding that meditation and worship through yoga enhance human values, religious observance, discipline, peace, and harmony. “If everyone adopts yoga practice, we can build a healthier society,” he said.

The Yoga Dasara Sub-Committee, in association with Sri Patanjali Yoga Shikshana Samiti and several yoga organisations in Mysuru, organised the event, which began at 6 a.m.

Participants climbed the Chamundi Hill and performed various yoga postures such as Vajrasana, Veerasana, Veerabhadra Asana, and Simha Garjane. They also performed five rounds of Durga Namaskara. More than 500 yoga enthusiasts and practitioners, including members of Patanjali Yoga Shikshana Samiti, participated.
