Danny Rohl’s Rangers Backroom Staff Plan Revealed if he Gets Ibrox Job

Rangers managerial candidate Danny Rohl wants an ex-player on his backroom staff if he lands the job at Ibrox, according to talkSPORT.
The Glasgow giants sacked Russell Martin following a 1-1 draw with Falkirk before the international break, leaving them in eighth place in the Scottish Premiership table with just one win all season.
Steven Gerrard was considered to be the top candidate for the role, but he has withdrawn from the process, and Rohl is now said to be one of the coaches being eyed most seriously by Ibrox chiefs.
Rohl Wants Ex-Rangers Star in Backroom Staff
Rohl, who has been without a club since departing Sheffield Wednesday during the summer, has impressed in talks with chairman Andrew Cavenagh and vice-chairman Paraag Marathe over the last week.
While he is not the only name being considered, GIVEMESPORT understand Kevin Muscat is also under consideration, the German coach’s plans should he get the nod to take over have now emerged.
It’s understood that Rohl would want to include at least one ex-Rangers player as part of his backroom staff to help him understand the club even more, while he is also keen to embrace the great history of the Light Blues.
Former midfielder and club legend Steven Davis had been earmarked for a potential role under Gerrard before the Liverpool legend opted against the role, and he is a name mentioned as someone who could potentially come in as part of Rohl’s staff.
Another ex-Rangers star who has been linked with a return in a coaching capacity is Jermain Defoe, and Rohl could also look at him as an option as he was keen on being part of Gerrard’s team too.
Alongside Rohl and Muscat, there are expected to be other names being considered for the role, with Sky Sports reporting that former Southampton man Ralph Hasenhuttl could also be on the final shortlist. No final decision has been made, and there are question marks over whether an appointment will be made before the club’s next fixture.
