Neil McCann has lauded Danny Rohl for instantly throwing his Rangers focus on climbing the table after seeing off Kilmarnock. Rohl shook up the formation and starting line-up as Rangers recovered from their Europa League drubbing at the hands of Brann on the German's managerial debut to secure the club’s first home league win since May. Djeidi Gassama was deployed as a right wing-back with captain James Tavernier dropping into a back three, while forgotten man Danilo made a scoring return to the side as he partnered Bojan Miovski in a front two. And McCann - who was part of Barry Ferguson's interim coaching team last season - was impressed with the attitude of the 36-year-old during his post match debrief. Speaking to BBC Sportscene after the game, Rohl admitted he "knows the table" and "needs these wins" as he looks to turn the campaign around after a nightmare start under Russell Martin. McCann said: "A dream start for Danny Rohl. It was clear today, and it's good, that he is fully aware of the table. "He could have just passed this off and (say) 'it's about time' but he knows he can't afford to lose another game. "To win today was massive, for him but for the team as well to give them a little bit of that spirit to get them winning at Ibrox again." McCann was also impressed by the "brave" changes that Rohl put in place after a lacklustre display in Norway. He said: "I wondered what he would do today and he went to the three to combat the two strikers of Kilmarnock, and it was good. "They played the three midfielders, Aasgaard needs to adapt his position for me but the other two - Raskin and Diomande - have a built and sustained relationship. "The back three with the centre-backs gave them a real solidity at the back to build on and play it wide. "A brave choice to play a winger as your right wing-back (Gassama) with Tavernier playing a right centre-back. But that is the difference today, they were hunting the ball."
