Danny Rohl racked up a second win on the spin as Rangers gaffer - and says they’ve finally re-connected with the Ibrox support. The German gaffer took the acclaim of the travelling fans at Easter Road after a hard-fought victory over Hibs. Danilo 's early strike in Leith secured three vital Premiership points and moved Gers into third in the league table. Rohl knows it’s still early days in his Rangers tenure but says the most pleasing aspect to the start he’s made is the new-found synergy with supporters. He hailed the spirit his team showed in Edinburgh and urged them to keep it going ahead of Sunday’s Premiership Sports Cup semi-final clash against Celtic at Hampden. Rohl said: “You feel it in the changing room at the moment. The players understand that we need this spirit to win games. “This is a big part for me. What I really liked was at the end of the game, our supporters and players came closer. “They recognise what we’re doing and I think this is a great spirit to feel after just one week. “Maybe one week ago we were a little bit far away from each other but now we’re closer and this is great to see. “It’s crucial. If you look back two weeks ago it was maybe a tough place here but since I’m here I feel so much support in my direction. “It’s fantastic but it’s important to give my players those two minutes at the end because they deserved it. “They put everything on the pitch. Everyone feels a connection. Are we building something? Hopefully. We’ve spoken about creating momentum. “We made the step on Sunday (against Kilmarnock) and this was the next step. “We have won two games in a row and this helps. But there are short memories in football. We have two wins so let's continue in the next games.” Rohl stuck with his new 3-4-2-1 formation at Easter Road and it paid off thanks to Danilo’s early strike. He rotated his squad ahead of Hampden, leaving the likes of skipper James Tavernier on the bench. He had keeper Jack Butland to thank at the end after the keeper saved Jamie McGrath’s penalty. That gave Gers a first clean sheet in almost a year - and left Hibs with a home defeat for the first time since November 2024. Rohl said: “In general I see some players are growing at the moment. “After the game it’s always easy - if you lose you get asked why you rotate so much. “If you win it’s good because then you see that you need more than just 11 players for such a schedule. “We can speak about a lot of individual performances but right now it’s about the team. “Im happy for the group and the players today, we put a lot of effort in because this is a difficult place to come. “I’m really proud for the team because we understood today we had to suffer in some moments. “It’s very important for us to develop that resilience as the group. “It’s not always about nice football to win games, sometimes it’s about more than just that.” Follow Record Sport on Twitter , Facebook and Instagram for all of the up-to-the minute breaking news, video and audio on the SPFL, the Scotland national team and beyond.
