Danny Rohl has been issued a brutal verdict on how his Rangers tenure is going to go - as the 49ers land criticism back home. The German boss arrived at Ibrox last month off the back of the calamitous Russell Martin era, 49ers Enterprises and US health insurance tycoon Andrew Cavenagh’s first head coach hire under their ownership. Defeat to Roma in the Europa League has left their chances of progress out of the league phase hanging by a thread and they already trail Premiership leaders Hearts by a double digit margin. Woe at Ibrox has been picked up by CBS Sports Golazo, who broadcast UEFA matches in the US. Former USA international star Charlie Davies didn’t hide his feelings on the topic of Rangers, as he wonders whether or not his Sheffield Wednesday management experience was enough to prepare him for leading a club the size of the Ibrox side. He said: “Danny Rohl is in over his head. The unfairness is maybe the job came too soon. It’s the fault of Rangers’ ownership. When you’re saying ‘Danny Rohl, come in, we’re gonna hire you’… He has no experience managing players at this level, he has no experience winning trophies. He’s set up to fail.” Ex Aston Villa and West Ham midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker questioned whether the former Sheffield Wednesday man had the presence to command as necessary in the Rangers hotseat. He said: “When you manage a club like Rangers, you have to have something about you. That arrogance, that presence. “He’s going to have senior players who have played so many games at high levels, and they’ll be the ones watching training and listening to what he’s said to the players. It’ll be them who tell their close friends and family what he’s like.” Goalkeeper Jack Butland, ahead of Sunday’s league clash at Dundee, said: “My thoughts on Thursday night? Yeah, disappointed on the night, but the beauty of playing for this club is that there's another opportunity coming thick and fast. An opportunity to push and try and take another step in the league. Obviously, we're trying to make up ground and trying to really focus on ourselves and make sure that we can start putting a string of wins together. “Games like Thursday night are tough to take, but you can't dwell on it regardless of how it feels. You've got to learn from it, move on, and we've got to deliver a win on the weekend. I'm expecting a tough one. It's never easy, and obviously at the minute, because of our own performances, teams perhaps feel like they've got more of a chance. That's something that we need to stamp out quickly. “We can do that by going there on the weekend and putting together a really good performance and taking away the three points from them - come back down the road with a win, and that's the only thing that we can do is focus on that.”
