One cast member from the Harry Potter films has shown a lot of support for Tom Felton as he reprises Draco Malfoy for Broadway's Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Felton first gained fame as Malfoy in the first Harry Potter movie, Sorcerer's/Philospher's Stone, which was released in 2001, with seven more films following over the next decade. When Harry Potter and the Cursed Child debuted in the West End and on Broadway, none of the stars from the movies reprised their roles. The stage productions featured brand-new casts to the Harry Potter franchise. However, that all changed when Felton was announced as the next actor playing Draco Malfoy on Broadway for a 26-week run beginning November 11. With just weeks to go until Felton makes his Broadway debut in Cursed Child, Felton revealed to People which Harry Potter movie star reached out to him with advice. Daniel Radcliffe, who played Harry Potter in all eight films, has a lot of stage experience, so he's been "holding [Felton's] hand" and helping the actor through all the hard elements that go into acting in a play. My old school chum, Potter, Radcliffe, has done quite a bit of Broadway, so he's holding my hand and certainly helping me through all the things that are hard to learn. Radcliffe made his West End and Broadway debut in 2007 and 2008, respectively, in the play Equus while he was still starring in the Harry Potter films. He has also starred in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Cripple of Inishmaan, Privacy, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead and The Lifespan of a Fact. His most recent role on Broadway, in Merrily We Roll Along, earned Radcliffe a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. Radcliffe's advice will definitely be useful as Felton begins his months-long run on Broadway. Felton went on say that the Broadway community has an "amazing community of people," and Harry Potter fans are excited for him to join Cursed Child, which makes him feel even more "thrilled" to be on this journey. But from what I gather, it's an amazing community of people. The fans are really, really gracious and excited. So I'm just thrilled to be part of it. Felton will be acting in Cursed Child alongside John Skelly, Emmet Smith, Rachel Christopher, Daniel Fredrick, Janae Hammond and Kristen Martin. The play takes place 19 years after the events of Deathly Hallows and centers on the children of Harry, Ginny Weasley, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger and Malfoy, with appearances by adult versions of the fan-favorite Harry Potter characters. Before Cursed Child, Felton had only been in one play, 2:22 A Ghost Story, in the West End, but he's acted in movies like From The Rough, Ophelia, Get Him To The Greek and Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
