Dancing With the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba sparked concern among fans on Tuesday, after announcing she would miss the show’s season 34 premiere.
The TV personality, 57, revealed she would not be present in the ballroom to watch the new cast — which has been dubbed ‘lazy’ — perform due to not feeling well.
‘I wanted to share that I will not be at the show tonight as I am feeling quite under the weather,’ she shared in a surprising Instagram announcement on Tuesday, just hours before showtime.
‘I’m resting up and can’t wait to be back next week in good health,’ she added.
Inaba wrapped up her statement writing, ‘In the meantime, I wish all the contestants the very best of luck. I’ll be cheering you on from home. Have a great show everyone!’
She did not reveal the exact nature of her illness.

The TV personality revealed she would not be present in the ballroom to watch the new cast perform due to ‘feeling quite under the weather’
Despite her absence, a new judge will not be filling in for her. The show will continue with only Derek Hough, 40, and Bruno Tonioli, 69, at the judges’ table, and the performances will be scored on a scale of 20, rather than the usual 30.
Host Alfonso Ribeiro addressed her absence at the start of the show, stating, ‘It’s great to have all of you at home joining us in the ballroom and wonderful to see our judges. Well, two of them. Carrie Ann is under the weather and hopes to be back with us next week.’
Her announcement saw an outpouring of well wishes, with DWTS pro Britt Stewart commenting, ‘Hope you feel better Carrie Ann!’

Meanwhile Derek left two red-heart emojis.
His sister, Julianne Hough, added ‘Get better soon sis.’
Some fans were concerned, with one noting that Inaba ‘has never missed a show in 20 years!!!!’
Meanwhile others suggested temporary replacements, such as former pros Lindsay Arnold and Sasha Farber.
The news came after Inaba was noticeably absent from the cast announcement earlier this month.
The cast was announced live on Good Morning America on September 3, with both Tonioli and Hough present for the reveal.
Co-hosts Julianne and Alfonso Ribeiro were also in attendance.
However, Inaba did celebrate the new cast, which includes Hilaria Baldwin, Corey Feldman, Jen Affleck, Jordan Chiles, Baron Davis and more, in previous Instagram Stories.

Some fans were concerned, with one noting that Inaba ‘has never missed a show in 20 years!!!!’

24-year-old Earle is one of the most popular influencers on social media, boasting a dizzying 12 million followers across both Instagram and TikTok

‘Here we goooooo!!!!’ she wrote at the time, sharing a number of photos featuring the celebrities and the dancing pros.
Inaba has been a fixture on the Dancing With the Stars judging panel since the show’s premiere in 2005.
Inaba previously told Variety in 2023 that she’s ‘almost walked away’ from the show a few times.
‘As the only female judge for most of the seasons, I get a lot more hate than the men do,’ she explained.
She also shared, ‘The biggest misconception about me is that what I do is easy. I don’t know many people in this business who have kept a job for 32 seasons.’
‘What I do is complex and it takes courage. I show up and speak my truth in front of millions of people, and then I am accountable for it.’
It comes amid news of growing tensions and backstage chaos at the show.
Bosses have reportedly been fighting to quell the drama which has seen some professionals bemoaning their ‘lazy’ celebrity partners, while one drop out has left producers scrambling to find a last minute replacement.

Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC and Disney+ Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET

‘This season is a s**t show,’ an insider told the Daily Mail. ‘They chose a few stars – and I use that term loosely – who just don’t want to put in the work. Some just don’t seem as committed as others have in the past.
The pressure is on for ABC bosses after the season 33 finale drew in 6.36 million people, the highest Live+Same Day total since the Season 29 finale back in 2021, according to Nielsen.
This rose to 7.95 million after seven days of viewing on ABC, Disney+, Hulu and other digital platforms.
Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC and Disney+ Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
