When the remaining nine couples were being introduced at the start of the episode, it was noted by hosts Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro that Elaine Hendrix was absent due to an injury she suffered earlier in the day amid rehearsals. 'Right now, she's at the hospital and being assessed,' Ribeiro explained to fans and viewers, but added that both Hendrix and her dance partner Alan Bersten are still 'in the competition.' Judges - including guest and two-time DWTS champion Cheryl Burke - instead judged their last full rehearsal video. It was also revealed later on in the episode that Hendrix suffered an injury to her ribs but has been cleared by doctors to return to the competition next week if she and Bersten garner enough votes. Fans voiced their shock over the update with one penning on X, 'WHAT DO YOU MEAN ELAINE IS INJURED. PLEASE BE OKAY.' DWTS judge Carrie Ann Inaba has responds to backlash over scoring... with the help of Taylor Swift One X user also typed out on the social media platform, 'elaine is hurt noooo.' Hendrix and Bersten had practiced an Argentine Tango and due to the actress not able to take part in a live performance due to being at the hospital, their last live full rehearsal was instead scored by the judges. Ribeiro explained before the pre-recorded video was shown, 'Elaine has cleared to say in the competition. If she survives tonight's elimination.
