Sitting at 3-4-1, the Dallas Cowboys have questions swirling everywhere. The Cowboys Nation is restless. Some want change, while others want patience. But everyone wants answers. So recently, Dak Prescott stepped up and revealed their trade plans, and ears perked up across Dallas, because, according to the Dallas QB, a trade “definitely can help a team.” “Not being naive and understanding where we are, and to say one position is where we need to go, or that, I’m not sure. Leave it to those guys who are in those talks, I’m sure making those decisions and working hard right now as we near the deadline to figure out something.” Interestingly, Jerry Jones already tried to shake things up. The Dallas front office made calls for Maxx Crosby and Trey Hendrickson, hoping to boost the pass rush. But those dreams died in no time. Crosby’s not leaving the Raiders, and Hendrickson’s staying put in Cincinnati. So, once again, the Cowboys were left searching for answers while every other contender stayed firm. But I will go back to what I said after the last game. I just encourage the guys in the locker room to do whatever they can in this time to shut that talk up. That’s just all of us looking in the mirror and trying to say Where can I be better and how can I take advantage of this opportunity?” So, Dak’s message is crystal clear. If Dallas wants to survive this season, it’s time the current group steps up, especially the defense. Prescott didn’t stop there. He also addressed Jerry Jones’ recent $100 billion comment, something that’s been buzzing around Cowboys Nation ever since, and clearly not sitting well with the fans. Week after week, the defense keeps giving up over 400 yards, sitting near the bottom of the league in stopping the run. But what really set fans off was when owner Jerry Jones said he was too busy handling his natural-gas business instead of focusing on fixing the Cowboys’ struggling defense. “There’s $100 billion present value with gas out there,” Jones told the Wall Street Journal. “That’s why I’m talking to you on the telephone rather than trying to fix our defense with the Dallas Cowboys.” When the Cowboys’ QB was asked about Jones’s remarks, he didn’t dodge the question. He showed empathy toward the fans. “I don’t know the full context of it. I do know a piece of it. But being a fan and you just hear that or read that, yeah, of course. … That can definitely be frustrating.” Prescott understood the sentiment perfectly. However, he also didn’t blast the owner. “But in that sense, I would just say, the guy has never really lied about who he is or what he’s trying to do. Hopefully, he was talking about in that one particular moment. Maybe in those five minutes is what he was alluding to, and having a chance at a $100 billion opportunity, I think you might take five minutes as well to answer a call. Hopefully, that’s what he means, right? But I could see how it could be frustrating.”
