D-I recruit Keys transferred from Blacksburg to North Cross

Running back Jaxon Keys, a Division I recruit who rose to prominence at Blacksburg High School, transferred to North Cross earlier this month, Bruins head coach Zack Leonard confirmed to The Roanoke Times.
Keys, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound junior, transferred to the Roanoke private school Sept. 11, according to Leonard, the day before Blacksburg’s Week 3 loss to Floyd County. He ran for 85 yards on eight carries in North Cross’ 53-12 win over Atlantic Shores Christian on Friday.
Keys totaled 1,093 yards and 11 touchdowns with the Bruins last season. He tallied 162 yards on 41 carries with a pair of touchdowns in the first two games this season in wins over Giles and James River. The Bruins are 0-2 since his departure with losses to Floyd County and Altavista. Luke Mann ran for 129 yards and scored four touchdowns in his place against the Colonels.
Tristan Lange served as running back for North Cross before taking over at quarterback in its Aug. 29 loss to Trinity Episcopal and has remained the team’s signal-caller. The VCU baseball commit collected six total touchdowns, four passing and two rushing, in the Raiders’ win over Atlantic Shores Christian. Former Radford running back JD Grubb also transferred to North Cross this past offseason.
Keys has offers from Liberty, San Diego State, Ole Miss, Michigan State and Memphis. He joins five other North Cross players with D-I offers.
