It was a double delight for India at the European Chess Club Cup 2025 as D Gukesh and Divya Deshmukh won two gold medals each at the event. The reigning world champion made a mark as he won the individual gold medal on the top board of ECC board 1 and also guided his team SuperChess to the team gold at the event, securing a perfect score of 14/14. Divya Deshmukh, who earlier this year had become the first Indian to win the women's Chess World Cup, won individual gold in board 2 while representing Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo at the European Chess Club Cup. Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo won the championship for the ninth time, finishing on top of the table with 13/14 points after a 2-2 draw against Turkish Airlines Sports Club, but it was enough to secure the championship. These wins will give them a load of confidence ahead of the Chess World Cup 2025 in Goa that starts on October 30. Viswanathan Anand Inaugurates Global Chess League Experience Center in Dallas.
