Telangana Government has swung into action directing the officials concerned to take immediate steps to avoid loss of life and property in view of the heavy rains that are lashing the State on Wednesday (October 29, 2025) under the influence of cyclone Montha. Revenue, Roads & Buildings, Agriculture and other departments have been put on high alert and instructions were issued to ensure evacuation of people residing in low lying areas . Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has directed the department officials to take steps in advance in view of the forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in north Telangana districts including Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Kamareddy and erstwhile united Warangal in the next 24 hours. He wanted the department to coordinate with Energy, Panchayat Raj, Roads & Buildings and other departments in taking up immediate relief works besides measures to prevent losses in the low lying areas, to the maximum extent. Police should be deployed near canals, tanks and streams for continuous supervision and should be kept on alert to avoid scope for any untoward incidents. Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy instructed the officials concerned to be on high alert ensuring round-the-clock monitoring of road conditions. Officials should stay put on the field and were directed to avoid taking leave unless absolutely essential. Danger warning signals should be installed in low lying causeways and culverts and R&B officials should maintain close coordination with departments like Police, Revenue, Power, Irrigation and Panchayat Raj to safeguard public lives and property. Alternative routes for emergencies should be identified The Minister reviewed the functioning of the R&B control centre and directed the officials to remain in contact with their counterparts at the district level. Circle wise monitoring should continue without interruption and alternative routes should be identified for emergency transport besides taking necessary preventive measures. People on their part should avoid venturing out unless under unavoidable circumstances and should strictly follow safety advisories issued by the authorities during the cyclone period. Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, who spoke to the collectors of the affected districts, directed them to be on alert and educate people about protecting their crops rather than indulging in distress sale. Farmers should be told to postpone harvesting paddy and people in low lying areas should be asked not to cross streams and rivulets. Officials could utilise the services of the Police department if need be. With rise in flood levels forecast, officials of the Irrigation department should supervise the water levels in tanks and other water bodies.
