Few currently running superhero titles have as much acclaim behind them as DC's Absolute Batman. Created by writer Scott Snyder and artist Nick Dragotta, Absolute Batman has been nothing short of a home run for DC, and that success already has fans buzzing about the possibility of an adaptation. As much as fans want to see Absolute Batman spring to life, though, Dragotta himself has the perfect suggestion for who should get the honor of adapting his and Snyder's seminal series. In an AMA on LeagueofComicGeeks, user MarvinManhunter asked if Absolute Batman would be adapted. Dragotta responded that fans should see some of DC's toy licensing deals for the series. While Dragotta said he wasn't aware of any in-development projects based on the series, his personal vote for an adaptation would have to go to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners creators Studio Trigger. Check out the Inart and LPZZ toys debut at Wonderfest in Shanghai for a taste of things to come. I'm not in the know, but I know DC makes and licenses quality stuff so I'm excited to see what comes. Personally, I'd love to see a Studio Trigger anime of Ab Bat. Studio Trigger Would Absolutely Crush an Absolute Batman Adaptation Though Dragotta didn't elaborate on his point about a Trigger adaptation of Absolute Batman, anyone with knowledge of Trigger would know just how much of a natural fit they would be for this sort of project. Getting their start in 2013 with the release of Kill La Kill, Trigger is world-famous for their many boundary-pushing anime titles. Not afraid to use hyper-violence and sex appeal, Trigger generally balances out the graphic nature of their work with incredibly thoughtful writing that keeps viewers engaged just as much as the outrageous visuals. Though they have many incredible series under their belt, it's difficult to deny that their crown jewel is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. That series is one of the best science fiction anime on Netflix and drew fans in with its thoughtful characters and wicked animation. Trigger and Absolute Batman would be a match made in heaven, naturally leaving many fans to wonder how likely a collaboration would actually be. An Absolute Batman Anime Is Actually More Likely Than Fans Might Think Not only is DC Comics no stranger to anime adaptations, but Batman, specifically, has had a few. 2008's Batman: Gotham Knight saw Madhouse, Production I.G., and Studio 4°C help create an anthology movie, while Batman Ninja and its sequel were animated by Kamikaze Douga and YamatoWorks. Those, coupled with Suicide Squad Isekai show that DC is more than willing to lend its IP to anime studios. Ironically, the biggest roadblock to an Absolute Batman Trigger anime might be Trigger itself. The studio is relatively small and generally only produces one or two anime a year. With a full production slate including Panty and Stocking, Delicious in Dungeon, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, it's difficult to imagine the studio having time for Batman.
