Curry Pizza House held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 17 in the Gateway West shopping center, 1030 Forrest Ave., unit 103, around the corner from Food Lion. The restaurant features pizza and wings in both curry and traditional flavors, plus craft cocktails and mocktails. Pizza choices include chicken tikka, lamb kabob and achari gobhi with cauliflower. A pizza restaurant and bar with dishes inspired by India and America is now open in Dover. The staff at Curry Pizza House held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce Oct. 17 in the Gateway West shopping center, 1030 Forrest Ave., Unit 103. Part of a national chain, the restaurant is around the corner from Food Lion, facing Saulsbury Road on the east side of the shopping center. Lifelong Delawarean Nikhil Patel, the operating principal of the ownership group, said he wanted to bring a new type of restaurant to the area. “The menu and ambiance at the Curry Pizza House are unlike anything Dover has ever seen,” Patel said. The restaurant features pizza and wings in both curry and traditional flavors, plus craft cocktails and mocktails. Ketu Bhavsar, a partner in the restaurant, said many customers like to start their meal with Desi Garlic Sticks and chicken wings in flavors like tikka, tandoori and curry, while the most popular main courses have include: Achari Gobhi Pizza with marinated cauliflower, a white garlic sauce, cheese, red onions, tomatoes and fresh cilantro Butter Chicken Pizza with chicken marinated in a butter sauce, cheese, tomatoes and red onion Chicken Tikka Pizza with a white garlic sauce, cheese, tomatoes, red onions, green onions and fresh cilantro Lamb kabob pizza, with Halal ground lamb, curry sauce, cheese, red onions, garlic and fresh cilantro The Curry Pizza House company was started by Gursewak Gill, who moved to the United States from Punjab, India and fell in love with American pizza, according to Restaurant Business magazine. Order from Uber Eats: He started his first restaurant in 2012 in California, blending his family's curry recipes to create a new twist on pizza, while also offering traditional Italian-style pizza. With franchising, the number of restaurants has grown across California and into Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Texas, Georgia and now Delaware. In Dover, Curry Pizza House also includes the Hidden Tap and Barrel bar, with a full line of top-shelf liquors, rail drinks, wine and beer. “We have plenty of options but we specialize in craft cocktails and craft beers,” said Dominique DeGeorge, bar supervisor.
