About “Surviving My Father”
Based on the real-life events included in Rachel Jeffs’ memoir, “Breaking Free: How I Escaped Polygamy, the FLDS Cult, and My Father, Warren Jeffs,” the new Lifetime biopic, “Surviving My Father: The Rachel Jeffs Story” follows one woman’s harrowing journey from cult member to escapee.
Entrenched in the Mormon fundamentalist organization run by her father and notorious polygamist, Warren Jeffs, Rachel endured various forms of manipulation — including purity culture, isolation, and a lack of autonomy — until her departure in late 2014. After years of trauma, she eventually took it upon herself to speak out against the religious sect and leave the heavily guarded community in which she was raised. Although, she couldn’t save only herself. Following her getaway, Rachel returned in search of her children.
Watch the premiere Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
