The streaking Colorado volleyball team put together one of its more impressive victories of the season. In a top-25 battle, the 23rd-ranked Buffaloes took care of business in four sets against No. 18 Baylor, defeating the Bears 14-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-20 at the CU Events Center on Friday night. CU improved to 20-3, reaching 20 wins for the first time since 2022 and the third time in 10 seasons under head coach Jesse Mahoney, and moved to 10-1 in the Big 12. Thanks to Arizona State’s five-set loss on Friday against Iowa State, CU moved into a share of the conference lead, although ASU defeated the Buffs on Oct. That was the last loss for the Buffs, who have won six consecutive matches. CU dropped the opener against the Bears but reeled off three straight wins to take the match. “After a really slow start to that match, I think that was some of the better volleyball we played, certainly in the last several weeks,” Mahoney said in a release. “Everyone contributed, which is really important for us. We couldn’t serve our pass in that first set, that was kind of the issue there. But, we were really good from the service line, and really good passing in sets two, three and four. Our block came alive, and we had a lot of scramble plays. We got better as the match went on, that was really gratifying to see. That’s a very good team, and we are excited for the win.” The Buffs hit the road next week for a two-game trip through Kansas, beginning with a matchup at KU on Thursday (5 p.m. MT, ESPN+).
