CT vape shop raided for fifth time since 2024

Police have arrested a man after raiding a vape shop in Norwalk — which has had its license to sell vape products suspended after similar prior investigations — and allegedly finding THC products.
The raid was carried out Tuesday at R&R Convenience and Smoke at 213 Main St., according to Lt. Tomasz Podgorski of the Norwalk Police Department.
The search was conducted by the police department’s Special Services Division and reportedly turned up about 1.5 pounds of cannabis products including pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes, containers and bags filled with marijuana and THC edibles, Podgorski said.
“A majority of these items were located inside a trap door hidden within the store,” Podgorski said in a statement.
According to Podgorski, investigators also allegedly found and seized several bottles of nitrous oxide, which is sometimes abused by being inhaled.
Podgorski said the search marked the fifth time investigators have conducted a raid at R&R and arrested someone.
According to the state Department of Consumer Protection, the vape shop’s Electronic Cigarette Dealer registration was suspended in August 2025 following what was at that time the fourth raid there since December 2024.
During each inspection, the department wrote, police “seized hundreds of illegal cannabis products.”
Podgorski on Wednesday said the vape shop’s license is suspended “pending review.”
Following the most recent raid, police arrested Mohamed Anam, 27, of the Bronx, New York on charges of sale of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and violation of restricted substances. He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to face a judge on Oct. 6.
“The Norwalk Police Department remains committed to investigating and addressing businesses that operate outside of the law, particularly when those activities pose risks to public health and safety,” Podgorski said.
