CT store closing after 14 years and lots of love from customers

There are words many in Connecticut dread seeing: “Everything is drastically marked down.” That is the case because those words so often means a store is closing. And that is the case with Cotton Hollow Home, a Naugatuck furniture store that has said a very hearty “Thank You for 14 Wonderful Years.” Kellee and Greg Wasoka said, of their family-owned business, which specialized in handcrafted Amish Furniture, “It’s with mixed emotions that we announce we’ll be closing our store. While it’s hard to say goodbye, we’d love to see you one more time before we do.” To that end, the store has been having big sales of remaining merchandise, according to Facebook posts. “After 14 incredible years in business, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to all of our amazing customers,” the store owners wrote online. “Your loyalty, kindness, and support have meant the world to us — we truly couldn’t have done it without you!” They also noted that, “to show our appreciation, we’re offering great deals on everything — everything must go! Stop by, say hello, and take advantage of some amazing savings. Thank you for being part of our journey and for filling these 14 years with wonderful memories, laughter, and friendship.” “Browse our great collection of premium-quality, handcrafted heirloom furniture on display and only a click away, right on our website,” the post said. Why an award-winning CT baker makes creations ‘to be remembered.’ Customer: Everything ‘outstanding’ The news brought out many memories from customers. “Best wishes to you! I’ll always remember your kindness during the beginning of COVID when you were still in Collinsville. You delivered a bunch of Easter basket goodies to our home. Your store always brought delight. Thank you,” one wrote. “I’m sure it wasn’t easy to make a big decision like that. You’ve made so many happy because of the beautiful things you sell,” another customer posted. “I’m glad that we have some of those pieces. Big hugs coming your way and I hope to see you soon when I come down next time.” Another wrote, “Good luck in your next adventure! We love all the pieces we’ve purchased from you over the years.” The owners said everything must go and the remaining sale schedule, according to the post, and website, is Oct. 20-25: 50% off and Oct. 26: 75% off furniture & fill-a-bag for $10 (cash only) with gifts and home décor.” Store Hours through Oct. 26 are: Monday: Closed; Tuesday-Saturday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sunday: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Others simply wished the owners “the best of success with your future endeavors,” and “wish you so much luck in wherever life takes you. I will stop in.” One customer said she was “sending hugs,” and while “so sorry you are closing,” is “happy I got to see your beautiful store a few times. It would have been many more if I lived it CT still. Wishing you the best!” Others noted specific purchases at the store and cherished piece in their homes. “I wish you both the best in your next endeavor. I bought my bedroom furniture from you when you were in Collinsville and I absolutely love it,” wrote one customer. “We have several pieces of your beautiful furniture. Thank you for doing what you did. Enjoy your retirement,” said another. Another, also sorry to hear of the closing, noted “Your furniture is the best! Love my kitchen table and chairs, bed, and rocker.” “I’m very sorry to hear you are closing. I love the furniture I bought there,” wrote another. Many also wished Kellee and Greg Wasoka a wonderful future, whatever they decide to do. “Congratulations on your new journey!! You had such success with your business so now it is off to bigger (or smaller you decide!) and better things. The one thing I know for sure is that you will look back and think of all of the friends you’ve made in those 14 years. That’s the best part! Love and luck to both of you. And don’t forget to visit Gettysburg!!,” another wrote.
