Port d’Andratx became the vibrant heart of Mallorca’s seafaring culture this weekend as hundreds of visitors gathered for the second edition of the Fira Marinera (Marine Fair). The event, which opened on Friday 17 afternoon, brought together nautical industry professionals, artisans, and residents to celebrate the island’s enduring maritime heritage. Organised by the Andratx Department of Tourism and Sports, led by Lluís Toni Sieiro, in collaboration with the Port d’Andratx Sailing Club, chaired by Ginés Martínez, the fair transformed the port into a lively showcase of tradition, craftsmanship, and community spirit. The Mayor of Andratx, Estefanía Gonzalvo, officially opened the event alongside local and regional authorities including Antoni Vera, Minister of Education and Universities; Pedro Bestard, Vice President of the Consell de Mallorca; and Catalina Cabrer, Minister of Labour and Public Functions. In her remarks, Gonzalvo emphasised “the importance of keeping the municipality’s seafaring identity alive and supporting the professionals and businesses that keep it active.” Across the fairgrounds, around thirty stands displayed a mix of nautical products, second-hand boats, local crafts, and maritime-inspired goods. From early morning, the port’s waterfront buzzed with activity as visitors explored exhibitions, sampled seafood specialities, and took part in hands-on workshops. Activities for all ages The Fira Marinera offered a wide programme of events designed for all audiences. One of the highlights was the sailing baptism sessions organised by the Sailing Club, where groups of up to twelve people could experience a 30-minute introductory sail. The club also hosted the “Visual Logbook of Port d’Andratx” exhibition, an artistic journey through the history and landscape of the port. Music brought additional energy to the celebration, with performances from Batucada El Puntazo and Dragomonis animating Avenida Mateo Bosch from late afternoon. Later in the evening, the stage welcomed DJ Ross, Antonio Carmona, Jimy Fantasy, and Ramonells, transforming the seafront into a festive open-air concert venue. Television presenter Joaquín Prat also took part in the presentation of the Benefit Gala Against Cancer, adding a charitable note to the day’s festivities. Seafood and seafaring spirit Local restaurants and bars joined in the celebration by offering special menus inspired by the sea, featuring fresh local produce and traditional Mallorcan flavours. This gastronomic offering, paired with the fair’s nautical exhibitions and music, created a well-rounded experience celebrating the island’s maritime roots. By drawing both residents and tourists, the event has become an important autumn attraction for the area, strengthening Port d’Andratx’s connection to its seafaring traditions while boosting local commerce and tourism. With its second successful edition, the Fira Marinera has firmly established itself as a key date on Mallorca’s cultural calendar – a celebration of craftsmanship, community, and coastal heritage at one of the island’s most picturesque ports.
