Crisafulli to ‘park the cannoli diplomacy for a while’ over health, NDIS funding

Queensland Premier David Crisafulli has taken a swipe at the federal government, accusing it of “playing a cruel game” by delaying health funding, as he demanded a fairer deal from the prime minister to save stranded patients. On Sunday at the LNP’s state council meeting on the Gold Coast, the Premier took aim at Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and claimed federal responsibilities around the NDIS and aged care were being shirked and passed onto the state. He compared the federal government’s actions to effectively “shutting down a major Queensland hospital every single day by walking away from doing their job”. In a nod to their shared Italian heritage, Crisafulli said the “cannoli diplomacy” would end between the pair, as he worked towards a better deal with the Albanese government, which he said was turning a blind eye to stranded patients.
