More volleyball history was made in the volleyball state.
Tuesday’s meeting between No. 18 Creighton and No. 1 Nebraska, played in front of a sellout crowd of 17,675 at the CHI Health Center, set the NCAA attendance record for a regular-season indoor match.
Wisconsin had held the record since Sept. 13, 2023, when 17,037 fans packed Fiserv Forum as the Badgers beat Marquette.
The Bluejays and Huskers now reclaim a crown they once held. There were 15,797 — then the indoor regular-season record — at CHI when CU and NU played in September 2022.
That stood for a week before Wisconsin broke it a week later with 16,833 spectators in the house for a five-set loss to Florida.
Tuesday was the 11th-most attended match in NCAA history. Only one ahead of it wasn’t in the NCAA tournament, with the rest being Final Four doubleheaders or national championships.
Nebraska drew 92,003 to Memorial Stadium — a world record for a women’s sporting event — for Volleyball Day in Nebraska in August 2023.
