Creighton moves up in U.S. News rankings; UNL and UNO see decrease

Creighton University moved up in the 2026 U.S. News college rankings, while the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Nebraska at Omaha saw their rankings fall.
Creighton ranked 117th out of the 436 schools on the U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best National Universities list, up from a ranking of 121 on the 2025 list.
UNL ranked 158th, down from 152 on the 2025 list, and UNO ranked 301st, down from 296 on the 2025 list.
On U.S. News’ list of top public universities, UNL was ranked 84th, and UNO was ranked 164th.
Creighton was also ranked 33rd for first-year experiences, 39th for undergraduate teaching and 44th for undergraduate research/creative projects, according to a press release from the university.
“These rankings support what we at Creighton see every day: faculty who are deeply committed to their students’ success and students who rise to the challenge of learning with purpose,” Mardell Wilson, Creighton’s provost, said in the release. “At Creighton, education is not just about knowledge gained, but about forming leaders who are prepared to make a meaningful impact in the world.”
