GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A new arcade setup blending traditional shooting games with the feel of an amusement park ride has made its debut at Craig’s Cruisers.
Craig’s Cruisers’ parent company Five Star Parks said this week that it has introduced the new and immersive Super Blaster arcade platform to the entertainment center at 5730 Clyde Park Ave. SW in Grand Rapids.
Developed by Triotech, Super Blaster combines an 85-inch 4K display, motion seats, wind effects and surround sound to deliver immersive competitive gaming. Up to four players can blast away at moving targets such as zombies or werewolves in several game titles that are exclusive to the platform.
“Super Blaster is the perfect cross between a traditional video and the high-energy feel of a large attraction,” Jeff Gebhart, vice president of entertainment strategy and tech services at Five Star Parks, said in a statement. “It’s an incredible new way for families and friends to compete together.”
The arrival of Super Blaster highlights Five Star Parks’ mission to grow and improve on the success of Craig’s Cruisers. The Missouri-based family entertainment company acquired Craig’s Cruisers of Grand Rapids, Holland and Muskegon in Nov. 2022.
“We look forward to building upon the 40-year legacy that Craig’s Cruisers has established in West Michigan, and we’re excited to evolve the parks in ways that will benefit their guests, employees and communities into the future,” John Dunlap, CEO of Five Star Parks and Attractions, said after the acquisition.
Super Blaster currently is exclusive to Craig’s Cruisers of Grand Rapids.
Craig’s Cruisers began in 1979, adding the Muskegon location in 1990, the Holland spot in 1994 and the Grand Rapids location in 1999.
The Grand Rapids location has a 700-seat pizza restaurant, a trampoline park, ninja warrior course, two-level laser tag arena, bumper cars, go-carts, indoor roller coaster and several outdoor attractions.
