The Dallas Cowboys made a big move after the 2025 NFL Draft to pull off a trade for wide receiver George Pickens. Acquiring him from the Pittsburgh Steelers has ended up being a massive steal for Jerry Jones and company. Pickens has been a breakout star within the Cowboys’ offense. However, there are questions about his future with the team. So far this year in eight games, Pickens has caught 43 passes for 685 yards and six touchdowns. He has become a secondary go-to target for quarterback Dak Prescott alongside of CeeDee Lamb. To this point, a new report has shared that the Cowboys have yet to start contract negotiations with Pickens. Pro Football Talk shared a report originally made by ESPN’s Ed Werder. Dallas has not yet engaged with either Pickens or his representatives regarding a new contract. At just 24 years old, Pickens has set himself up nicely for a big-time pay raise during the offseason. Whether that raise comes from the Cowboys or another team, the star wideout has proven himself capable of being a No. 1 wideout. Dallas will likely attempt to keep him in town. Whether or not Jerry Jones will be willing to open up the checkbook enough to keep him remains to be seen. Most notably, the Cowboys opted to trade away superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers rather than pay him the big-time contract he was looking to receive. It’s unknown how Jones and the front office feel about paying big bucks to keep Pickens around.
