Couple found dead in Kadambar

A young couple from Kadambar under the Manjeswaram police limits died in a suspected case of suicide, reportedly due to financial distress.

The deceased have been identified as Ajith, 35, a painting and polishing worker, and his wife, Shweta, 27, a teacher at a private school near Vorkady Bakery Junction. Ajith died around 12.30 am on Monday (October 6), while Shweta succumbed to poisoning early Tuesday morning (October 7) at a hospital in Derlakatte, Karnataka.

According to police, the couple had been facing severe financial difficulties. Ajith, his wife, and his mother, Pramila, lived together. On Monday, while Pramila was away at work. Ajith and Shweta went to Shweta’s sister’s house in Bandiyod with their three-year-old son, asking her to take care of the child, saying they had to go somewhere.

Later, after returning home, both reportedly consumed poison. Locals found the couple lying unconscious in the backyard and rushed them to a private hospital in Hosangady. They were later shifted to Derlakatte due to their critical conditions, but could not be saved. Manjeswaram police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
