After a year of health struggles, Paul Cauthen and his wife, Elizabeth, have some exciting news to share with fans. The country singer, who has been battling thyroid cancer, revealed that their family is about to grow by one. The announcement, shared on Instagram, included four ultrasound photos and a tiny leather jacket labeled “Lil’ Velvet.” “@elizabethcauthen and I are beyond excited to announce a baby boy is on the way,” the caption said. “Spring 2026!!! We have been trying for over four years now. It’s God’s timing not ours. We are ready to bring Lil Velvet into this world.” Fans were thrilled by the news, taking to the comments to share their excitement. One fan wrote, “So excited for this beautiful news!” while another added, “Congratulations cant wait for all the songs he’ll inspire!” A third commented, “God bless you and your family. May he keep his hand over all of you and keep you safe. Congratulations.” Earlier this year, Cauthen faced serious health challenges that forced him to cancel his tour and step back from social media. He shared with fans that he had pneumonia, which led to a dramatic decline in his health. “I was taking a bunch of steroids to get me through those shows,” he said. “Something woke me up and I was blue in my lips and white in my face.” Following a checkup at the Cooper Clinic in Dallas, doctors discovered a mass in his right thyroid. Cauthen was diagnosed with papillary carcinoma, a type of thyroid cancer. Reflecting on the experience, Cauthen said, “I have had a lot of time to reflect and realize that life is short and precious.” In a more recent message to fans, he shared that he has regained his health and is ready to continue performing. “I’m called to do this,” he wrote on Instagram. “The Lord has blessed me in countless ways. I turned my back, I selfishly chose my way instead of just listening to the calling. Thankful for all of you who made it out to all my shows. We wouldn’t do it without you. Boy do we have some songs coming for you!!!! Album is about mixed and ready for master. The band is hot. The team is tight. It just feels right. God bless you!”
